David Frederick, Violin & Bow Maker
David is a Master Violin Maker from St. Louis, Missouri with over 20 years experience in the making and repairing of string instruments and bows. He has studied with several notable makers from the American Federation of Violin and Bow makers and spent three years in Atlanta working with a German Master Violin Maker.
In 2001, he established David Frederick Violins, which focused on the making of new instruments and bows while assisting shops throughout the Midwest and Southeast with restorations.
Finally, in 2010, David joined Henry at The Violin Shop in Lincoln to lead workshop activities and carry The Violin Shop into the next generation.
David’s instruments are enjoyed by an international clientele. To Contact David call 402.474.1640 or email david@theviolinshopinlincoln.com
"Professional Concert Quality Violins, Violas and Bows"

"New makers have a distinct advantage on the classical makers: they can build for today’s players and today’s halls, both enormously changed in the last 50 to 100 years."
(Violin Owner’s Manual, String Letter Publishing, 2001) read the article (www.stringsmagazine.com)
David Frederick instruments are available for purchase directly from The Violin Shop in Lincoln and periodically in a handful of other fine violin shops. I do take commissions for future instruments. Currently, due to increased demand and workload, the waiting period is generally 6-8 months. I am always willing to work with musicians to help determine which model would best complement their individual playing style.

"At nearly two years old, the violin is opening up beautifully and has a wonderful sound. I would not hesitate to purchase a David Frederick Violin. Beautiful to look at, beautiful to hear.” Eric Gifford, Portage, Michigan
"I love my David Frederick violin. I like the way it responds and sounds. To me it sounds better and better every day. Thank you for making this violin Mr. Frederick!" Peter Gifford, Portage, Michigan
“David’s instruments ring and carry warmth effortlessly and represent exceptional craftsmanship and beauty.”
Adam Crane, Atlanta, Georgia – Concert Artist, Renowned Pedagogue

All David Frederick instruments carry a limited lifetime warranty on workmanship as well as two complimentary check-ups (at 6 months and 1 year) to include adjusting or replacing the bridge and/or soundpost as needed based on the natural settling of the instrument.

Additionally, in the unfortunate event that an instrument requires repair, I offer a generous discount off current shop rates on all David Frederick instruments thus allowing me to maintain the integrity of my work. This offer is good for the life of the maker and is transferable if an instrument is sold.
Any time that an instrument is returned for service, shipping and insurance costs to and from the maker are the sole responsibility of the customer.
Current prices for my instruments:
Violin $12,000 / Viola $13,000
Bows starting at $2,800 for silver mounted
Arch Top Concert Ukulele starting at $2,050
